OK, so last week I predicted an upset in the USC-Ohio State game. I thought the pressure might be too much for a freshman QB to handle.
But that was before the season. Now that the season has started and seeing as how Ohio State struggled against Navy while USC simply surfed by San Jose, I started to question my own judgement.
I need to stop smoking buckeye leaves. Or at least cut back some.
Also I need to stop believing all the preseason hype. The preseason polls are nothing but a popularity contest and early season picks are often nothing but guesses. Season-ending polls are not much better, but at least some popular teams are eliminated from contention on the field.
In the new, clearer picture of the situation, I think that a team that struggles versus Navy is going to rolled over by USC. Even at home and even with a freshman quarterback.
So with my new, revised, after-the-season-started prediction is USC by 7.
Next week, however, I may do OSU-USC prediction 3.0. In that one, I will cleverly postdict the exact score.
