Trojans vs. Buckeyes in 3D: Take OSU by 3

The USC-Ohio State football game is going to be shown for free in 3D on the USC campus.

The 3D version of the football game will also be shown for free in theaters in Columbus, Ohio, Hartford, Conn., and Hurst, Texas.

I for one can hardly wait for all sporting events to be in 3D. Baseball might even be watchable in 3D.

Golf’s beauty cannot begin to be expressed in 2D. To watch golf in 3D might even be exciting. Dodging Titleists from your theater seat would be much more fun than simply seeing a small white speck against a blue sky.

Does football need 3D to be exciting? I think surround sound would be more interesting: Hearing the violent crunching hits in Dolby stereo would be almost as graphic as X-ray view (4D) in which you could see the actual bones snap in real time. I’m sure someone is working on this.

So what will the fans see on September 12?

I predict they will see a young quarterback for USC facing a hungry OSU defense looking for respect at home.

And I’ll pick OSU in an upset: Buckeyes by 3 with too much D.
